A Systematic Review of Occupational Therapy Intervention for the Rehabilitation on Dementia in Korea

Abstract
|
|
|
Objectives : This study was to be conducted to identify the occupational therapy meditation for domestic patients with dementia.
Methods : From January, 2000 to August, 2013, we searched through The National Library of Korea and KISS the for essays post in doctoral thesis or academic magazine and mainly used vocabularies such as occupational therapy, occupational meditative therapy and dementia.
Results : In aspect of subjects that had participated in each studies, the study with more than twenty subjects was only one and the number of subject of all the other studies was less than twenty, which means level of reasonability was not so high. For research design of each thesis, randomized trial was one among every research and three was non-RCT. six was non-subject design and one was case studies. In aspect of internal/external justifiability, ten studies were in the middle level of in/external justifiability, and in aspect of efficacy of therapy ten out of eleven studies was confirmed to have gained meaningful effect because it matched hypothesis of thesis. The activities of daily living, depression and cognitive function had been mentioned in total five studies. reduced caregiver burden had been mentioned in two studies.
Conclusion : The future study is going to obtain more subjects according to such as result and to do some work about continuous medical effect through investigation. The more studies about various medical possibility other than occupational therapy meditation will be required.
